CBSE Class 12th OSM Row 2026: This year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system to make the answer sheet evaluation more efficient and transparent. However, after the result declaration, several students raised concerns regarding the discrepancies in their marks and evaluated answer sheets. Allegations ranging from missing pages to unchecked answers and mismatched scanned copies sparked a major debate online. As complaints increased day by day, the OSM discrepancies caught everyone’s eye and are now a major debate nationwide, questioning its authenticity. Students are now left with uncertainty about their next admission process.
In the recent update, CBSE has extended the submission of the applications for the Class 12th re-checking till June 7, 2026, following millions of cyberattacks on the official portal.
Rise In Stress And Anxiety Among Students
One of the biggest impacts of the CBSE OSM row has been increased anxiety among students about future uncertainty. Many students had expected higher marks, but were shocked and disappointed after seeing the evaluation errors in the scanned answer sheets. Those waiting for university admissions, uncertainty around marks has added extra pressure, with many worried that delays in re-evaluation may affect their chances of getting into preferred colleges.
Reportedly, several students are delaying their college admissions while waiting for the re-evaluation results, hoping for better marks and improved eligibility for competitive courses or institutions.
Mistrust Among Students For OSM Evaluation Process
More than 4 lakh students have applied for the re-checking of scanned answer sheets, highlighting the amount of mistrust that has seeped in among students for the OSM evaluation system. Cases where students reportedly received higher marks after rechecking have raised questions about whether errors may have occurred during the original assessment, further questioning the Board’s decision to introduce the OSM system. The growing number of complaints has highlighted the need for transparency and quicker grievance redressal.
CBSE’s Response and Next Steps
CBSE has continued the re-evaluation process. Students need to submit their applications for re-checking of scanned copies by June 7, 2026 (midnight) through the official portal. Further, the Board has advised students to follow the official review mechanism and not believe in rumours going around.
The board has maintained that the OSM system was introduced to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors, while concerns raised by students are being examined through post-result procedures.
