Galgotia University Row:  'Galgotia University' is facing intense scrutiny for claiming that staff and students built a soccer drone entirely in-house at their Greater Noida campus. Despite assertions of end-to-end innovation, evidence suggests the device is a Striker V3 ARF from Korea.

This incident follows the university being asked to vacate the India AI Impact Summit after presenting imported robotic dogs as indigenous technology. Authorities took serious action, enforcing strict compliance standards for exhibitors regarding transparency.

Is the Galgotia University Misleading the Public?

The university asserted the device was developed through complete in-house engineering, from design to application. "So they basically, from the end-to-end engineering to the application, we have a simulation lab to an application arena," a Galgotias employee claimed in videos.

However, critics online suggest the drone is actually a rebranded model manufactured by a Korean company, raising questions about the legitimacy of their innovation claims.

Users on X have criticized Galgotias for allegedly rebranding the Korean "Striker V3 ARF" drone as an in-house creation, calling it a blow to academic integrity.

 

What Sparked Galgotias University's 'Robotic Dog' Row?

The controversy began when a robotic dog named “ORION” was showcased at the summit. A video showing a faculty member demonstrating the robot gained widespread attention online. Soon after, social media users claimed that the device looked exactly like the Unitree Go2, a commercially available robotic dog made by a Chinese company.

This led to accusations that the university was presenting an imported product as its own innovation. The controversy escalated because the display was linked to the university's major AI ecosystem investment of Rs 350 crore.
