IIT Guwahati GATE 2026 Examination: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 will commence on February 7, 2026 and will be conducted by IIT Guwahati, bringing an important opportunity for thousands of engineering, science, and technology graduates across India. The examination is conducted annually for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate programs as well as employment in prestigious public sector organizations.
The exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14 and 15 in two shifts each day. It will be held in computer-based mode at examination centres across the country.
Candidates who have applied for GATE 2026 are required to download their admit cards from the official website and carefully check all the details mentioned on them. Entry into the examination hall will be granted only after document verification.
GATE 2026 Exam: Shift Timing
The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in two shifts each day. The morning shift will run from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, while the second shift will be from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Candidates must check their allotted shift and examination center details on their admit card. Students are required to reach the center at least 1 hour to 1.5 hours before the reporting time.

Candidates must undergo biometric verification and have their documents checked before entering the examination room.
Those who do not possess the necessary documents or arrive after the cutoff time will not be allowed entry.
No personal electronic devices, including calculators, are permitted at the workstation; a virtual calculator will be provided on the examination computer.
GATE 2026 Checklist at a Glance: Bring a printed A4 admit card with a clearly visible photograph.
- Bring the original photo ID used during registration.
- Leave electronic devices, bags, and reading materials at home.
- Arrive at the center 60-90 minutes before the reporting time.
