JE Education Desk: 'Scheme for Residental Education for Students in High School in Targeted Areas' (SHRESHTA) has been introduced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The program attempts to improve the socioeconomic standing of scheduled castes while advancing education.

According to the official statement, the main goals of this project are to widen the scope of government development programs and fill service shortages in areas of the education sector where SC communities are disproportionately present.

Every year, the program will choose about 3,000 deserving SC children and provide them admission to the greatest private residential schools in the nation.

The SHRESHTA initiative, according to the press release, intends to create a setting that will support SC children's holistic and socioeconomic development, offering them a better future. The program's main objective is to promote collaboration between grant-in-aid institutions sponsored by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and residential high schools that offer top-notch education.

The plan is put into action in two separate ways. The SHRESHTA institutions, which make up the first category, are the best private residential schools associated with the State Board and CBSE. The National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), which will be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be used to select a predefined number of excellent SC students from several States and Union Territories (UTs) each year.

To complete their education from Class 9 through Class 12, the kids will afterwards be accepted into the best private residential institutions affiliated with the CBSE/State Boards. Based on their remarkable performance, a selection committee will choose these schools for the admission of the selected students. Institutions with pass rates for classes 10 and 12 of above 75% over the last three years will be chosen.
