Gurugram Schools Closed: The Gurugram administration has declared a holiday for all schools up to class 5 in response to the escalating air pollution levels. The administration in Gurugram has temporarily suspended all classes, from nursery to class 5, till further order. Students and parents are advised to keep in contact with their respective schools to know their school status and regarding online classes.

This decision has been made in order to safeguard school children from the increasing pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR). Similarly, Faridabad's Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh has issued an order to shut down all schools for classes 1 to 5 from November 7 to 12.

On Monday, November 6, the Gurugram District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and District Commissioner, Nishant Kumar Yadav, issued an official order in this regard. The administration has directed schools to ensure the continuity of online studies to prevent disruptions in students' education.

"Discontinuation of Pre School, Pre Primary & Primary classes (Nursery to class V) in physical form from 7th November 2023 for both Private and Govt. Schools," tweeted DC Gurugram on X.

"Transition to online lessons for students up to Grade 5, ensuring easy access to online resources," the post further reads.

The air quality Index in the district has maintained an alarmingly hazardous level over the past week. On November 6, it peaked at 412, and the industrial district was ranked as the fifth most polluted city in the country.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav informed that due to the sustained deterioration in the air quality index, the situation has escalated to the GRAP IV stage.
