JE Education Desk: After the constant rain caused two landslides and a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh, all educational facilities were shut down. The state has been experiencing heavy rain since Sunday. The state government has ordered all schools and universities to remain closed until August 19 out of concern for the safety of pupils.
The Himachal Pradesh University announced in a circular dated August 14 that it had stopped classes until August 19 due to the severe rains that had caused landslides and road closures.
According to the most recent statistics, building collapses brought on by landslides have killed at least 60 individuals in the last three days.

“The University library would also remain closed till August 20. However, teaching and non-teaching staff would attend the university as usual,” as per the PTI report.
Since the start of the monsoon on June 24 to August 14, the state has suffered damages totalling Rs 7,171 crore, according to the state emergency operation centre. This monsoon season, there have been 170 documented cloudburst and landslide incidents in the state, causing damage to 9,600 homes, according to the PTI report.
Following days of nonstop rain, the state administration ordered HP schools to close on August 14. According to reports, a landslide also happened close to St. Edwards School. In 11 out of the state's 12 districts, up to 857 roads have been closed to vehicular traffic, while 4,285 transformers and 889 water supply schemes are not working.
