Hindi Diwas 2025: Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14, every year. This day helps in promoting awareness and importance of the Hindi language. In 1949 when the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi as the foster language, written in the Devanagari script, as the official language of the Union of India. 

In 1953, Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, declared in the Parliament House that every year September 14 will be celebrated as National Hindi Day. The request to celebrate this day was made by the Rashtriya Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha.

Hindi Diwas 2025: History

 The Constituent Assembly of India on  26 January 1949, took a significant decision by formally adopting Hindi language in the Devanagari script as the official and formal language of the Union and country. This decision was later incorporated into the Article 343 of the Constitution of  India which officially came into effect on 26 January 1950.

In our country, every year 14th September is celebrated as National Hindi Day or Hindi Diwas Globally, Hindi is the third most spoken language after English and Mandarin (Chinese).

Hindi Diwas 2025: Significance 

Hindi Diwas is observed and celebrated every year to raise awareness about the Hindi language and promote it as a global means of communication. Hindi Diwas is celebrated by various activities such as debates, essay contests, recitals of poetry, cultural programs, seminars, and official events in educational institutions and the government departments across India.

The main objective of celebrating Hindi Diwas is to promote the use of Hindi language, to create awareness about Hindi among people living in the country as well as abroad.

Hindi Diwas 2025 Theme: 

The Government of India will officially announce the theme for Hindi Diwas 2025 prior to the celebrations. In previous years, the theme for the Hindi Diwas have emphasised the importance of Hindi language in the fields of digital communication and culture.

‘Hindi: Strength of National Integration and Global Identity.’ This theme emphasises the extension of Hindi into new areas. Global voice of Hindi unity and cultural pride.
