ICAI CAI Exams Postponed: The Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has postponed all the Chartered Accountants (CA) examinations final and foundation level that were scheduled to be conducted in Kathmandu this week. This decision was taken by the ICAI to ensure the safety of all students amid the ongoing protest in Nepal and social media ban.
However, Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has also mentioned that the examinations have been postponed only for those students who were registered to appear for the Chartered Accountancy examination in Nepal's Kathmandu examination centres. The ICAI CAI Examinations for final and foundation courses will be conducted as scheduled at all other examination centres across India.
According to the official notification released by the ICAI, the CA Intermediate Group 1, Paper 1 (which was scheduled for September 9) and the CA Final Group 1, Paper 1 (scheduled for September 10) will not be conducted in Kathmandu. The revised dates for these papers will be announced soon on the official website of the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Once released, the revised examination schedule for ICAI CA examinations in Kathmandu will be updated at the official ICAI website.
The ICAI President emphasised that this decision will ensure safety and feasibility on the ground. ‘Wherever disturbances occur, students will face trouble in the examination. As soon as the atmosphere is peaceful, the revised dates for the ICAI CA Examination will be announced on the official website.
The decision comes because of the backdrop of the ongoing ‘Gen Z protests’ in Nepal, following the government’s move to ban 26 social media platforms. The Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has mentioned that students outside Kathmandu must adhere to the examination dates and timings printed on their admit cards only.
Prior to this CA Exam being postponed, ICAI had also postponed CA Final, Intermediate exams 2025 in Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mandi Gobindgarh, Pathankot, Patiala and Jammu City due to heavy rains and adverse weather conditions.
