In a competition hosted by Debating Society (DebSoc) of IIT Bombay, with Indian Debating League (IDL) and Burlington English, Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur won the finale of the Mumbai Speech & Debate League 2023. Oberoi International School and Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai won in the middle school category while the team with Pathways School-Gurgaon, Shiv Nadar School-Gurgaon and Dhirubhai Ambani International School-Mumbai stood first in the Junior school category.
This event has not only showcased the remarkable talent of our nation's young debaters but also underscored the importance of cultivating a culture of intellectual discourse and collaboration in educational institutions nationwide.
The finale witnessed speakers & debaters articulating their positions under the discerning eye of Mr. Chetan Bhagat, India's bestselling author. Participants were evaluated on their cogent arguments, eloquent deliveries, and engaging discourses.

The MSDL is a platform that elevates intellectual discourse, critical thinking, and powerful oratory skills. It garners participants from leading schools such as Dhirubhai Ambani International School, The Cathedral and John Connon School, Shiv Nadar School, Pathways World School, Bombay Scottish School, Jayshree Periwal International School, Pawar Public Schools, Bhavans Rajaji Vidyashram School, among others, solidifying its reputation as a cornerstone of competitive debate in India.
Nearly 2,700 speeches across Dramatic Adaptation, TurnCoat and World Schools Debate Championship were delivered across 170 parallel Zoom Rooms in the competitive online Qualifier Rounds. These were judged by highly experienced educators and adjudicators to ensure a superlative student experience.
The event promises an electrifying display of oratory skills, as the contestants engage in dynamic discussions on a multitude of contemporary topics, demonstrating their prowess and challenging the educators to rethink aspects of 21st-century learning with interesting motions.
