This day was first established on October 8, in the year 1932 and marked the beginning of the nation's air force army. This day honours the contribution, bravery and commitment of the Air Force Officers. This day is celebrated to pay tribute to the air warriors and to create awareness about their importance.

This day was founded in 1932, the Indian Air Force shows that with true dedication, commitment and bravery you can achieve anything. It plays a crucial role in securing the country’s airspace and protecting India’s national and humanitarian interests. This day serves as a tribute to the unwavering commitment, dedication and passion of the Indian Air Force personnel. The Indian Air Force went through various technological advancements over the years. The Indian Air Force was originally named the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF).

Indian Air Force Day: Significance

The Indian Air Force made unwavering contributions during World War II and earned its ‘Royal’ prefix in the year 1945 for its outstanding service. When India gained independence on August 15, 1947, after 200 years of British colonial rule, the Royal prefix was officially removed from its name and the force was formally established as the Indian Air Force. The Indian Air Force has a proud history of playing a crucial role in some of India’s most critical conflicts.

The day celebrates the bravery and dedication of air warriors, acknowledges their historical achievements and contributions.

Operation Sindoor: Example of planning, disciplined training

Air Chief Marshal praised how Operation Sindoor was planned and executed. He underscored how Operation Sindoor set a shining example of what can be achieved through planning, disciplined training and determined execution. The Air Chief Marshal mentioned all this while addressing the Air Force Officers on the 93rd Air Force Day at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad.
