Indian Students US Visa: The US Embassy has made changes to the visa application procedure for Indian students. These modifications are applicable to all embassies in Indian cities. Prospective students who wish to study in the United States under the F, M, and J visa programs should be aware of these changes. According to information posted by the embassy on X (previously Twitter), these modifications went into effect on Monday, November 27.

The US embassy has directed that all F, M, and J student visa applicants utilise their own passport information while creating a profile and booking visa appointments from today, November 27 onwards. The precautionary measure aims to prevent misuse and fraud of the appointment system.

"All F, M, and J student visa applicants must use their own passport information when creating a profile and scheduling their visa appointment. Applicants who have created a profile or booked an appointment using an incorrect passport number will not be accepted at the Visa Application Centers (VAC). Their appointments will be cancelled and the visa fee will be lost," the embassy tweeted.

"Any applicant who has created a profile or booked an appointment using an incorrect passport number should either create a new profile containing the correct passport information OR access any existing profile which contains the correct passport information in order to book an appointment. Note that this will require payment of a new visa fee receipt if the old receipt has been attached to a profile with incorrect passport information," reads further.

Moreover, those who have already created a profile or scheduled an appointment with an incorrect passport number were encouraged to either create a new profile with appropriate passport information or update the existing profile. However, if the prior visa fee receipt was connected to the profile with inaccurate passport data, this step might require the payment of a new visa fee receipt. In the case of a lost or stolen old passport, applicants must provide a photocopy or other proof of the previous passport number when scheduling a US visa appointment at the VAC.
