State’s Chief Minister: India, a 'Union of States,' appoints its Chief Ministers under Article 164 of the Constitution. Here, we bring to you the list of the all states Chief Ministers in a row. This article provides a detailed list of the current Chief Ministers and their career highlights.
1. West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee
Mamata Banerjee became the chief minister of West Bengal on May 20, 2011 for the first time. She became one of the youngest parliamentarians of India in 1984.
2. Uttarakhand: Pushkar Singh Dhami
Pushkar Singh Dhami became the 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, after the resignation of Tirath Singh Rawat on July 3, 2021.
3. Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath
In the year 1998, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur for the first time during the 12th Lok Sabha at the tender age of just 26.
4. Telangana: A. Revanth Reddy
A. Revanth Reddy became Telangana's Chief Minister in 2023. He initiated free bus travel for women and insurance under the 'Arogyasri' scheme.
5. Punjab: Bhagwant Singh Mann
Bhagwant Singh Mann took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16, 2022. He is an Indian politician, social worker, former comedian, singer and actor.
6. Rajasthan: Bhajan Lal Sharma
He was appointed as the 14th Chief Minister of Rajasthan and took his oath on December 12, 2023. He is currently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
7. Andhra Pradesh: Nara Chandrababu Naidu
On June 12, 2024 Nara Chandrababu Naidu took oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and is a member of the Telugu Desam Party.
8. Bihar: Nitish Kumar
Nitish Kumar is currently the longest serving chief minister of Bihar and he is serving his tenure for his 9th term and a leader of the Janata Dal (United).
9. Gujarat: Bhupendra Patel
Bhupendra Patel held the position of the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat on September 13, 2021. He represented the Ghatlodia constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.
10. Haryana: Nayab Singh Saini
Nayab Singh Saini has been serving as the Chief Minister of Haryana since March 2024. He was also the president of Haryana state unit of BJP.
11. Madhya Pradesh: Mohan Yadav
Mohan Yadav took oath as the 19th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in December 2023 announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
12. Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis
Devendra Fadnavis is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra since December 5, 2024, he held this same position for two consecutive terms.
13. Jharkhand: Hemant Soren
Hemant Soren started his political career as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) on December 23, 2009. He was sworn in as 14th CM of Jharkhand in 2024.
14. Kerala: Pinarayi Vijayan
Pinarayi Vijayan was a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 1964. Following the 2016 Legislative Assembly election, he became Kerala's CM.
15. Goa: Pramod Sawant
Pramod Sawant is a politician and an ayurveda medical practitioner and is currently serving as the 11th Chief Minister of Goa Since March 2019.
16. Arunachal Pradesh: Pema Khandu
Pema Khandu took oath as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in June 2024 and is currently serving as the State’s Chief Minister.
17. Karnataka: Siddaramaiah
Siddaramaiah became the first chief minister of Karnataka to serve a full 5 year tenure in the previous 40 years, and the second in the history of the southern state.
18. Tamil Nadu: M.K Stalin
M.K Stalin became the chief minister of Tamil Nadu on May 7, 2021 along with the rest of his cabinet. He showed extensive spread of Women Self-Help Groups.
19. Tripura: Manik Saha
Manik Saha took oath as the 11th Chief Minister of Tripura on May 15, 2022. He is a part of BJP and serving in the government of the Tripura.
20. Nagaland: Neiphiu Rio
Neiphiu Rio became the Chief Minister on March 6, 2003. He is serving as one of the longest serving chief ministers and took oath for the fifth consecutive year.
