IIT Madras BTech Programmes for 2025-26 Session: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, a pioneer in interdisciplinary innovation, has announced the introduction of two new BTech programmes for the academic year 2025–26. These programmes—BTech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics (CEM) and BTech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering (iBME)—will be offered through the Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering, a department known for its cutting-edge research since the institute’s inception in 1959.

Students qualifying for JEE Advanced 2025 will be eligible to opt for these courses during the JoSAA counselling. Both programmes will admit 40 students each and offer an option to upgrade to a five-year Dual Degree (BTech + MTech) through the Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (IDDD) route.

Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasized that these courses are designed to meet the demands of Industry 5.0, advanced manufacturing, and health technologies, bridging the gap between academia and industry. These degrees are poised to equip students with cross-functional skills in emerging sectors, such as AI-integrated engineering, digital twin systems, and IoT-driven biomedical innovation.
