Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the Azim Premji University in Ranchi. The university will be built on 146 acres at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore. Approximately 25 kilometers from Ranchi's main city, on a 146-acre site in the Itki block, will be the location of the Azim Premji University. It will be the largest campus of the Azim Premji Foundation, surpassing the 110-acre campus in Bengaluru.
The Chief Minister stated that at present, the foundation's largest university campus is situated in Bengaluru, covering 110 acres. The upcoming campus in Ranchi will surpass this, as we have allocated 146 acres of land for the project. Soren mentioned that an investment of Rs 5,000 crore will be made in the project in phases, with functions commencing in 2026, as per the media reports.
In addition to the university, which will be built on four acres, there will be a medical college, a 500-bed hospital, and other health-related facilities.

According to media reports, children from neighboring villages can use the school's library and sports facilities, and it will accept students from nearby villages and offer free education up to class 12. Moreover, the schools will provide midday meals, regular health checkups, uniforms, textbooks, and notebooks.
The project to establish the Azim Premji University was proposed in 2021. Azim Premji, the chairman of Wipro and founder, participated virtually in the university's opening, expressing gratitude to the Jharkhand government for its support and projecting the university to be among the largest in India.
