Karnataka SSLC Exam 2025: Karnataka's Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, has announced that the Karnataka Secondary Education Assessment Board (KSEAB) will no longer provide grace marks to students. According to media reports, grace marks will not be awarded for SSLC exams starting this year onwards.
Previously, SSLC students received grace marks to enhance their results and reduce malpractice. According to media reports, over 1.5 lakh students received 20 per cent grace marks in the Karnataka SSLC exam 2024, with 10 per cent granted during the COVID period and another 10 per cent implemented as part of recent reforms. With the removal of grace marks, the 10 per cent awarded during COVID will also be scrapped.
During the announcement, the minister emphasised that students should not fear these reforms and that grace marks are unnecessary. He noted that incidents of copying during exams have decreased due to the reforms introduced last year, and students are now well-informed about the examination system, experiencing no fear or confusion. Thus, there is no justification for granting grace marks.
