Kerala School Holiday In December: The Kerala government has declared school holidays for Tuesday, December 9, 2025, and Thursday, December 11, 2025, in various parts of the state to facilitate the 2025 local body elections. This decision applies to government offices and educational institutions, while private and commercial establishments have been directed to provide paid holidays to their employees on the voting days.
According to the official order, to ease the polling arrangements and encourage voters to cast their votes without any hassle, holidays will be observed on different dates in different districts.

Overview of Local Body Elections:
Voting for 1,199 local bodies across the state will be held over two days. Voting will take place in all constituencies on both December 9 and 11, between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. The elections will cover different levels of local governance, including Gram Panchayats, Block Panchayats, District Panchayats, Municipalities, and Municipal Corporations.
These holidays will apply to government departments, public sector companies, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. Private institutions will also be required to provide paid leave so that employees can participate in the democratic process.
By scheduling polling on two different days and declaring district-specific holidays, the state government aims to effectively manage the election process, maximise voter turnout, and ensure a smooth and fair election process across Kerala.
