Manipur Schools Closed News:  The Manipur government has revoked its earlier decision to reopen schools and colleges in Imphal Valley and Jiribam district on November 25, 2024. Educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, had been closed in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, and Jiribam districts for nearly a week due to prohibitory orders issued in response to the ongoing violence in the state.

In an order issued late Sunday night, the Directorate of Education—School announced that the earlier directive to resume normal classes for all schools government, government-aided, private, and central has been cancelled. Schools in the Valley districts will remain closed on November 25 and 26, 2024.

“The school opening order of even number dated the 24th November 2024, regarding resumption of normal classes for all schools of the state, Government, Government Aided, Private and Central schools, is hereby cancelled and all schools of valley districts will continue to remain closed on the 25th and 26th of November 2024,” reads the order.

"All zonal education officers under the department of education schools Manipur are hereby directed to inform all concerned under their jurisdiction and take up necessary actions accordingly," the order added.

Meanwhile, prohibitory orders in the Valley have been partially relaxed, allowing residents to purchase essential supplies between 5 am and 12 pm.
