Manipur Schools Closed: The Directorate of Education Schools has issued an official notice declaring the temporary closure of all schools in the state from September 27 to September 29, 2023. This closure applies to all categories of schools, including state government, state government-aided, and private unaided schools. Schools will remain closed till Friday in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the state.

Students and parents are advised to reach out to their respective school administrations for more details. Although the official notice does not mention the reason for the closure, according to the media reports, this measure has been implemented in response to the ongoing unrest and violence in Manipur. 

The state observes a public holiday on Thursday, September 28 to commemorate Eid-e-Milad, which marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad.

According to the media reports, approximately 45 students sustained injuries in the Imphal Valley of Manipur. This occurred during a protest where the police employed tear gas shells and baton-charged a mob protesting against the alleged abduction and killing of two youths in July. Consequently, on both Wednesday and Friday, there will be a temporary closure of all state government, state government-aided, and private unaided schools.

Meanwhile, state authorities have implemented a suspension of mobile internet services for a duration of five days throughout the entire state. These restrictions will remain in effect till 7:45 pm on October 1, 2023, news agency PTI reported quoting state government officials.
