NCERT New Textbooks: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has taken a significant stride in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by launching a new set of textbooks for Classes 5 and 8. These new materials are meticulously crafted based on the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023, aiming to revolutionise the learning experience for young minds across the country.
The core objective behind these new textbooks is to ignite imagination, foster creativity, and enhance conceptual clarity among students. As announced on X.com (formerly Twitter), NCERT has specifically introduced "Curiosity," a Science Textbook, and "Kaushal Bodh," a Vocational Education Textbook, for Class 8, marking a progressive shift towards holistic education.

Newly Launched Textbooks:
The recent launch includes a diverse range of subjects, expanding the curriculum to align with modern educational needs. Here is a list of some of the new textbooks released by NCERT:
Textbook Title | Subject/Type | Class |
Malhar | Hindi Textbook | 8 |
Veena | Hindi Textbook | 5 |
Santoor | English Textbook | 5 |
Kriti | Art Textbook | 8 |
Poorvi | English Textbook | 8 |
Curiosity | Science Textbook | 8 |
Kaushal Bodh | Vocational Education | 8 |
This initiative is part of a broader, ongoing rollout. In previous years, NCERT had already released new textbooks based on NEP 2020 for Classes 1, 2, 3, and 6, demonstrating a phased and comprehensive approach to curriculum reform. This ensures a gradual integration of the new policy across different grade levels.
The updated curriculum emphasizes subjects like Theater, Music, and Drama, making art education compulsory from Class 8. This multidisciplinary approach is designed to nurture a well-rounded educational environment, encouraging students to explore diverse fields beyond traditional academics and develop critical thinking skills.
While these newly launched textbooks for Classes 5 and 8 are not yet available for immediate online or offline purchase, NCERT has already listed them on Amazon.com for sale. They are expected to be published and made accessible to students and educators very soon, facilitating the transition to the new educational framework.
