JE Education Desk: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the counselling process for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG 2023) will commence 'soon'. While announcing the availability of recognised PG Board Speciality seats this year for seat matrix preparation.
According to the recent announcement by the NMC, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) received a total of 2,828 applications from medical colleges last year for the recognition and renewal of recognition of PG medical qualification. Out of these applications, the PG medical board has already made decisions on 1,870 applications, while the remaining requests are currently being processed.
As per the NMC's statement, the counselling process for NEET PG 2023 will commence soon and will be based on the NEET 2023 examination conducted for postgraduate medical admissions. Therefore, the existing recognised and permitted broad specialty seats available with the medical colleges will be considered for admission in the academic year 2023-24. It further stated that "the medical colleges may reduce the number of seats in special circumstances" and that the seat matrix would be established appropriately.
Currently, the NEET UG Counselling for 15 percent of the All India Quota (AlQ) seats is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), a central authority, while the counselling for the remaining 85 percent of the seats is carried out by the respective state authorities.

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has uploaded the NEET PG 2023 scorecard recently for All India 50% quota seats on the official website, natboard.edu.in. With these results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will be responsible for conducting the counselling process for admission to PG medical courses. The NEET PG 2023 examination was conducted on March 5, and the results were declared on March 14, 2023.
