NEET UG 2024 Result Controversy: Following the declaration of the NEET UG Result 2024, candidates, opposition parties, and academicians have called for justice. Though the NEET Result was set for June 14, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the scorecard on June 4, coinciding with Lok Sabha vote count day. Allegations arose that the NEET paper had been leaked on social media, prompting demands for the exam's cancellation and a re-examination. However, the NTA dismissed these claims, issuing a notice stating that the social media posts alleging a paper leak were baseless and without any ground.

“It has been ascertained from NTA’s security protocols and Standard Operating Procedures that the Social Media Posts pointing towards any paper leak are completely baseless and without any ground. To put rumours to rest, it is also stated that every single Question Paper (QP) has been accounted for. Further, it is also to be noted that after the gates of the Examination Centres are closed, no one from outside is permitted access inside the Halls which are under CCTV surveillance,” NTA said in an official notice.

Increased NEET Toppers: 67 Students Achieve Perfect 720

A total of 67 students scored a perfect 720/720 in NEET UG, achieving All India Rank (AIR) 1. In 2023, only two students had achieved this feat. This unprecedented number of perfect scores has raised concerns among coaching owners, aspirants, educationists, and opposition leaders. An NTA official noted that the question paper was prepared using a new NCERT textbook, while some students had the old NCERT textbooks. Consequently, the NTA awarded five marks to all students who marked one of two specific options. This adjustment increased the scores of 44 students from 715 to 720, leading to more toppers in the NEET UG exam.

Revised Marks Due To Lost Time: NTA Explains 718 And 719 NEET Scores

Concerns were raised about students scoring 718 and 719 marks in the undergraduate medical entrance exam, given the +4 -1 marking scheme. The NTA explained that approximately 1,563 candidates were compensated for lost time, resulting in revised marks ranging from -20 to 720. Due to this compensatory adjustment, two candidates scored 718 and 719 marks. The NTA noted that it received representations highlighting issues related to loss of time during the examination.

“The recent announcement of NEET 2024 results has sparked a debate. We have been getting multiple messages from our students ever since the results came out. Our students and parents have made immense effort to prepare for these exams and they deserve that the reported issues are validated and checked by competent authorities. This unprecedented situation has led to widespread speculation and scepticism. We urge NTA (National Testing  Agency )and GOI to go into the depth of the issues reported and if found true, to take appropriate measures. This will go a long way in instilling the faith of millions of NEET aspirants towards the neutrality of the test,” said Anil Nagar, Founder and CEO, of Adda247.
