NEET UG 2024 Updates: The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking a review of its August 2 decision, which refused to permit a fresh NEET-UG 2024 exam. The bench, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, rejected the review plea filed by Kajal Kumari, stating there was no error in the original verdict.
"There is no error apparent on the face of the record. No case for review under Order XLVII Rule 1 of the Supreme Court Rules 2013 has been established. The review petition is, therefore, dismissed,” held the bench in its October 22 order, made available recently. The court also declined a request for an open court hearing on the matter.
On August 2, the Supreme Court had declined to order a retest for NEET-UG 2024, citing insufficient evidence of any systemic leak or malpractice that could compromise the exam’s integrity.
The court’s order noted, "...sufficient material is not on record at present which indicates a systemic leak or systemic malpractice of other forms. The material on record does not, at present, substantiate the allegation that there has been a widespread malpractice, which compromised the integrity of the exam. To the contrary, an assessment of the data shows there are no deviations which indicate that systemic cheating has taken place."
Over 23 lakh candidates took the NEET-UG 2024 on May 5, competing for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and related courses.
