NEET UG 2025: The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently updated the NEET UG seat matrix, adding an additional 9,075 new seats across 812 medical colleges in India for the academic year 2025-26. With this revision, the total number of MBBS seats has increased from 117,750 (FY 2024-25) to 126,600 (FY 2025-26).

This expansion will improve the chances of students awaiting counseling to secure admission to their preferred colleges. The updated seat matrix is available on the NMC's official website – nmc.org.in. However, 456 seats have been reduced due to various reasons.

NMC Updated NEET UG Matrix: Steps To Download New Seat Matrix

Step 1: Visit the official website of the commission - nmc.org.in.

Step 2:  On the homepage, click on "MBBS Seat Matrix as on Oct 10" under the "What's New" section.

Step 3:  The updated seat matrix will be automatically downloaded.

Step 4:  Save the matrix for future reference.

NEET UG Counseling: New Medical Colleges and Additional Seats by State

Below, we provide a detailed breakdown of the state-wise increase in medical seats.

Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan:

50 seats will be added to Takshashila Medical College, Villupuram (private). In Rajasthan, 50 seats each will be added to the ESIC Medical College and Hospital and Arya Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Omaxe City, in the government and private categories, respectively.

Uttar Pradesh (UP) and West Bengal (WB):

Two new medical colleges have been approved in West Bengal – Raniganj Institute of Medical Sciences (100 seats) and PKG Institute of Medical Sciences (50 seats).

While in Uttar Pradesh, an Autonomous State Medical College (government) will soon be inaugurated with 100 seats from the financial year 2025-26.

Haryana, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh:

In Haryana, Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College, Bhiwani, and Maharishi Chyavan Medical College, Koriwas, will each add 100 seats. Similarly, in Bihar, Mahabodhi Medical College and Hospital, Shyamlal Chandrashekhar Medical College, and SPNM Hospital will each add 100 seats.

In Andhra Pradesh, Anna Gowri Medical College and Hospital, a private institution, will add 150 seats.

Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir:

50 seats will be added at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, while 100 and 50 seats will be added at Netaji Subhash Medical College and Hospital, Saraikala (Jharkhand) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (Jammu and Kashmir), respectively.
