Palghar School Holiday On July 8: In view of the heavy rainfall forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and for the safety of students, the Palghar district administration has declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and educational institutions on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. This order has been issued by Palghar District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar.

According to the IMD's weather forecast issued on July 7, 2026, Palghar district has been placed under a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall, with several parts of the district currently experiencing intense downpours affecting normal life and movement.

 

Why Was the Holiday Declared?

Continuous heavy rain between July 4 and July 7 has led to severe waterlogging on major roads and low-lying areas across Palghar. Authorities noted it may take time for accumulated water to recede, prompting the precautionary closure to protect students from travel-related risks.

What Does the IMD Alert Say?

The IMD has placed Palghar district under a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall, indicating that several parts of the region are likely to continue experiencing heavy rain, adding to the existing waterlogging concerns and disrupting normal commuting conditions for residents and students alike.

Which Institutions Are Closed?

The holiday applies to all Anganwadis, government and private primary and secondary schools, Zilla Parishad and municipal schools, aided and unaided institutions, Ashram schools, colleges across all streams, and institutions under the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training.
