Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the G20 University Connect Finale programme at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre today, September 26. This event will witness the presence of approximately 3,000 attendees, including students, faculty members, and vice-chancellors from the participating universities. Students from all across the country will have the opportunity to join the event live, as stated by the Prime Minister's Office.
"The G20 University Connect initiative was undertaken with an aim to build the understanding of India’s G20 Presidency among India’s youth and enhance their participation in the different G20 events," it said.
The program involved the active participation of more than 1 lakh students from universities throughout India. Initially intended for 75 universities to mark India's 75th year of independence, the initiative eventually broadened its scope to encompass 101 universities across the country.
According to the statement released by the PMO, the G20 Jan Bhagidari movement witnessed an unprecedented engagement, with over 50 million young individuals from various schools, higher education institutions, and skill development centers across the nation taking part.
"Several programmes were held across the country under the G-20 University Connect initiative. They witnessed extensive participation from higher education institutions. Further. what initially began as a programme for universities quickly grew to include schools and colleges, reaching an even wider audience," it said.
During his monthly radio broadcast "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to university students and young professionals who are keen on pursuing higher education to join the program.
