Punjab School Winter Vacation 2025: The entire northern region of India is currently experiencing an intense cold wave, with the meteorological department issuing rain alerts in several parts of the country. In light of these harsh weather conditions, many states have opted to extend school holidays to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Previously, the Punjab government had announced an extension of school holidays till January 7, 2025, due to the ongoing cold wave. Schools were initially slated to reopen on January 1 after a winter break from December 24 to 31. However, the state's continued chilly weather has led to concerns among students and parents regarding whether schools will reopen tomorrow.

Despite the earlier holiday extension, temperatures in Punjab are still at a low, leading many to wonder if further holidays will be granted. Although the government has not confirmed any updates, the situation remains uncertain.

Student And Parent Appeals For Further Extension

Students and parents have taken to social media platforms, urging the Punjab government to extend the winter break further due to severe cold and fog conditions in various areas. As per the current orders, schools in Punjab are expected to resume on January 8, 2024, at regular timings, but the administration is likely to review the situation and make decisions based on the ongoing weather conditions to prioritise student safety. Students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools for more details.

Students and parents across Punjab are urging the government to extend school holidays due to the severe cold wave gripping the state.

"@harjotbains Sir, please increase the holidays in Punjab because we are not able to go to school because of the cold," tweeted one student.

Another plea addressed to both @BhagwantMann and @harjotbains highlighted the plight of senior students, saying, "Please extend school holidays for all students in Punjab. Even classes above 9th are affected. Not every school has heating facilities, and it’s extremely hard for board exam students to cope in such harsh weather."

Citing actions taken by other states, one concerned parent tweeted, "@harjotbains @BhagwantMann Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, and other states have extended winter holidays due to the extreme cold. Punjab is facing similar weather. Kindly announce an extension of winter breaks for the safety and well-being of students."
