Punjab schools closed News: In view of the ongoing heavy rainfall and the potential for flood-like conditions, the Punjab government declared the closure of all government, aided, and private schools across the state till August 26.

“All schools in Punjab will remain closed from August 23 to 26. Following heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, which has created flood-like situation in many areas, it has been decided to shut all schools till August 26 with immediate effect,” said state education minister Harjot Bains on a social media post. 

Numerous regions of Punjab witnessed substantial rainfall, resulting in the emergence of flood-like scenarios on various roadways and low-lying regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Chandigarh and Ambala in Punjab for today, August 23.

Heavy rainfall has been persistent across multiple regions of the state since last night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Rupnagar and Patiala on Wednesday. According to the weather forecast, heavy rain is expected across various parts of Punjab in the upcoming hours.
