Punjab Summer Vacation 2024: Due to rising temperatures and extreme heat waves in the region, the Punjab government has announced that all schools in the state will be closed for summer vacation from May 21 to June 30, 2024. This decision to prepone the Punjab school summer vacations is aimed at ensuring the health and well-being of students during the peak summer season. For more details, students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools.
On Saturday, the department changed the school timings, deciding to keep them open from 7 am to 12 noon. However, it has now decided to declare early summer holidays. On Sunday, the Haryana government also took a step due to the heatwave by changing school timings from May 18 to May 31.
The Punjab School Holiday Calendar 2024, released by the state government in December, provides a comprehensive list of all scheduled holidays and vacations for the year.

Northern India is currently experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a staggering 47°C in Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe weather alerts for Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, cautioning of extreme heat conditions. Relief is not expected for the next five days, as the IMD predicts the continuation of the severe heatwave. To safeguard students from the blistering heat, several states have begun implementing changes to school schedules, such as initiating early summer vacations and adjusting class timings.
