Although Mumbai was not significantly affected, many schools in Marathwada will remain closed.
Meanwhile, the government issued a stern warning, stating that strict action will be taken against teaching and non-teaching staff, and one day's salary will be deducted. Dr. Mahesh Palkar, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, has issued strict instructions to all district education officers and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation to reopen schools. The government's salary cut order has further angered teacher organizations.
The Metropolitan Teachers' Association stated, "A one-day salary cut is an attack on teachers' rights. Our organization will support this movement." The teachers' union stated that the movement will continue until their demands are met.
