School Holiday Tomorrow (October 23) Live Update: Check States And City-wise Schools Closure Amid Heavy Rainfall Alert & Festivals

In the Delhi-NCR region, schools are shut from October 19 to October 23 for Diwali and Bhai Dooj celebrations. Some schools may extend holidays till October 28 for Chhath Puja.

Tamil Nadu has been witnessing intense rainfall for the past few days. Schools and colleges in Chennai and nearby districts were closed on Wednesday, October 22, due to heavy downpour and safety concerns.

If the weather remains severe, schools may remain closed again on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Several rivers and dams in the state have overflowed, raising the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

In addition to the festival holidays, several states have announced school closures on October 22nd due to heavy rains. According to the official order, schools will be closed on Wednesday in parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. If the rains continue, officials may extend the holiday until October 23rd, as the IMD has forecast more rain.

Schools in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida remained closed from October 19 to 23, 2025, for Diwali celebrations. Some schools may extend the break until October 28 to observe Chhath Puja. Parents and students are advised to check official school notifications for accurate reopening dates and updated holiday schedules.

Most of the Schools in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar are closed from 13 October 2025 due to regional festivals and government events. Schools in Rajasthan have the longest holiday break of about 12 days. Karnataka students will enjoy a 10-day vacation. In Bihar, schools will stay closed for both Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations.

In Bihar, Diwali holidays will start on October 18 and continue for several days. After Diwali, preparations for Chhath Puja will begin, during which schools will remain closed as well.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several Kerala districts, including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and others. Earlier red alerts for Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram were downgraded. As a precautionary measure, the Kerala government may announce a holiday for tomorrow due to heavy rainfall.

Though there is no official notification on whether schools and colleges will be closed in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, October 23, if the bad weather conditions prevail, the schools, educational institutions are likely to be closed tomorrow

Official updates regarding Tamil Nadu School Holiday 23 October 2025 might start coming from tonight. Respective district collectors shall take the decision on school holiday.

As of now, no district has announced a school holiday on October 23. There is a chance for official announcement by tonight or early hours tomorrow.

There is a chance for heavy rain in Telangana from October 24 onwards as per IMD prediction. Therefore, the chance for school holiday on October 23 is less.

The UP Education Department has announced that schools in the state will be closed for Diwali from October 20 to October 23. Since October 19 is a Sunday, students will get a total of five days off in a row.

In Bihar, Diwali holidays will start on October 18 and continue for several days. After Diwali, preparations for Chhath Puja will begin, during which schools will remain closed as well.

Rajasthan schools will remain closed till October 24, 2025, and schools in the Jammu division will observe holidays from October 19 to November 2. The classes will resume on November 3, 2025.

-Yellow alerts are issued for the rest of Tamil Nadu, including Vellore, Dharmapuri, Tiruppattur, Salem, Thiruchirapalli, Puddukottai, etc.

-According to IMD, two low pressures may cause heavy to very heavy rainfall of 7cm to 20cm, and even more than 21 cm rainfall in some parts.

-Officials are advised to keep the relief camps ready.

-Students are advised to follow the official updates from the government regarding the Tamil Nadu School Holiday on 23 October 2025, due to Rain.

This year, the holidays will run from October 13 to October 24, giving students and teachers a total of 12 days off. Since October 12 is a Sunday, the Diwali vacation in schools will officially start from October 13.

Although there is no official notification regarding whether schools and colleges will remain closed in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, October 23, schools and educational institutions may remain closed if the weather remains bad.
