School Holidays on September 6: The schools, colleges and educational institutes will remain closed in Hyderabad, Secunderabad on September 6, 2025 because of the Ganesh idols immersion procession. 

In an official notification  released by the Chief Secretary to the Government, K. Ramakrishna Rao mentioned that September 6 will be observed as a general holiday for all the government offices, schools, educational institutes and colleges Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal–Malkajgiri Districts of Telangana for the celebration of the Ganesh idols immersion procession. 

To make up for the closure, the government has announced that all the educational institutions and government offices in the affected districts will operate on September 11, 2025 (second Saturday of the month). All the schools and colleges have also remained closed in several states of India in recent weeks due to severe weather, heavy rains and flood-like situations.

Punjab: Because of heavy rains and floods, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that all the schools and colleges will remain closed till September 7, 2025. If the situation improves, these classes may reopen from September 8, 2025.

Chandigarh: In Chandigarh, schools will also remain closed till September 7, 2025 because of severe rainfall and bad weather conditions. Authorities in Chandigarh have extended the school holiday until the same date.

Himachal Pradesh: In Himachal Pradesh also, because of nonstop rain and damage, all the government and private schools, along with DIETs (District Institutes of Education and Training), will be closed till September 7, 2025.

Jammu District: With floods hitting hard in the state, all the schools, educational institutes and colleges will remain closed.

Meanwhile, schools are closed due to adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall across the country, especially in specific areas such as Himachal, Jammu, Punjab, some cities of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR. Parents are advised to stay in touch with the school authorities to stay updated with the current scenario and schools re-opening announcements.
