School Winter Vacation 2024: The Haryana government declared on Tuesday that the state's 1st to 5th grade schools will remain closed till January 27. In light of the extremely cold weather, all public and private schools up to Class 5 have decided to close. The faculty and support personnel may continue to work at the school as normal.

The abnormally chilly weather was taken into consideration when making the decision, according to State Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar. Haryana's schools reopened on Tuesday following a 22-day break. However, the government declared an extension of the school break owing to the severe cold wave.

"The Department has decided to close the schools for students of classes 1 to 5 till 27.01.2024 (Government, Private and Govt. recognized)due to ongoing intense cold wave. Although the teaching and non-teaching staff shall attend the school as usual", the order reads.

On Monday, the Chandigarh administration also granted an extra week of vacation for the students up to Class 5. Schools may choose to continue holding sessions for higher grades, but only after implementing the safety precautions required to shield pupils from the cold. The directive said that schools must close by 4 p.m. and must not open earlier than 9:30 a.m.

As the cold wave and fog continue to engulf the northern regions, Punjab, Haryana, and numerous districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have extended their school breaks for kids. The bad weather has also forced the Delhi administration to alter the hours of schools.
