School Holidays January 2025: Northern India is witnessing a sharp decline in temperatures and intense cold waves, prompting several districts and states to extend winter vacations. Here’s a list of states where authorities have decided to close schools due to the freezing weather conditions. Meanwhile, schools in most parts of India will remain closed tomorrow, January 14, in observance of Makar Sankranti. Students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools to know the exact dates of the holidays.
Delhi School Holiday
The Delhi government has announced winter vacations for all government schools from January 1 to January 15, 2025. Regular classes will resume on January 16, 2025.
UP School Holiday
Several cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Ghaziabad, Agra, Mathura, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow, have declared school holidays until January 11-14, 2025. In Ghaziabad, Agra, and Mathura, schools will remain closed for students up to Class 8. In Lucknow, while schools will be closed for students up to Class 8, online classes will continue for students in Classes 9 to 12.
Haryana School Holiday
According to the order, schools in Haryana will remain closed from January 1 to January 15 and will reopen on January 16, 2025.
Rajasthan School Holidays
Due to the cold wave, schools in Rajasthan's Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Bundi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pali, Beawar, Dholpur, and Jhalawar will remain closed until January 14 for classes up to 8. The timings for classes 9 to 12 have been revised, with sessions now starting from 10 am.
Bihar School Holiday
The state government has extended winter vacations for all government and private schools. Schools will remain closed until January 11, 2025, for students up to Class 8.

Telangana School Holiday
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has announced Sankranti holidays for intermediate students from January 11 to January 16, 2025. Regular classes will begin again on January 17, 2025.
Jammu and Kashmir School Holiday
Schools in Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed until February 28, 2025, for students up to Class 12. The announcement was made by Sakina Itoo, the Minister of School Education, via X.
