Tamil Nadu School Exam: Cyclone Michaung has caused delays in half-yearly exams for pupils in many districts of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu School Education Department announced on Wednesday.
Exams in the districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram have been postponed. According to the schedule, half-yearly tests would start on Thursday in the remaining districts, nevertheless.
Each school headmaster in those four districts has been given the power to administer tests based on recovery and to create unique question papers.
MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, assessed the areas impacted by Cyclone Michaung on Wednesday and gave out food and milk to those in Chennai who were affected by the rain.
"The floodwaters in Chennai's suburbs are still inundated. Many people are working in the field to ensure that everyone gets necessities like food and milk. We are continuing our fieldwork with the hope that the situation will improve soon!" MK Stalin posted on X.

Following Cyclone Michaung's devastation in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister MK Stalin emailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, requesting an immediate Rs 5060 crore interim relief aid.
Additionally, CM Stalin asked the PM to dispatch a central team to assess the state's damages from the Cyclone.
On Wednesday morning, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu also visited the areas damaged by the cyclone. CM Stalin stated on X in the late hours of Tuesday that every department within the government has been putting forth great effort to undo the damage caused by Cyclone Michaung.
"The entire government machinery, such as ministers, officials, police, sanitation workers, and corporation workers are working hard to quickly remove the effects of the Cyclone Michaung calamity that surrounds us. I request that many more comrades should immediately join hands with the relief work along with the members of the club who are helping in the field. Members of the affected areas come quickly!" CM Stalin said on X.
Chennai has experienced flooding due to heavy rainfall, and rescue personnel have been sent to evacuate locals from the affected districts. After intense rains, Chennai's Arumbakkam neighbourhood is still submerged in water. According to Chennai police, six deaths were recorded today. Rescue and relief operations are being led by teams from the Corporation and Chennai police.
"The Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner visited the flood-affected areas in Dansi Nagar, Velachery by boat and heard the needs of the affected people. He directed the police officers to work with all the departments to identify the people affected by the drone and help those who need help immediately. He continues to conduct field research on the relief and rescue operations being carried out on a war-time basis in Chennai metropolitan areas." stated the Chennai Police release.
