Tamil Nadu School Holiday Due to Rain: India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rainfall across various districts of Tamil Nadu for November 26, 2025. Due to heavy rainfall, the Tamil Nadu Government has declared a holiday on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. IMD has warned that a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal could intensify into Cyclone "Senyar" around November 25, 2025, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. Tamil Nadu is expected to experience continuous heavy rainfall.

Heavy rain warning for Tamil Nadu:

Due to the cyclone, heavy rains are expected to continue in Tamil Nadu from November 21 to 26. Especially today and tomorrow, very heavy rains are likely in the southern districts and delta districts of Tamil Nadu. A heavy rain warning has been issued in the districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai.

For Chennai, the sky will be cloudy and moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in some places in the city. The public has been advised to be cautious as rains are likely to continue in many parts of Tamil Nadu for the next few days.

Tamil Nadu School Holiday 26 November 2025:

According to the IMD's weather forecast for November 26, 2025, most coastal districts are on a yellow alert. In view of the impending cyclone, state governments may declare school holidays in vulnerable coastal areas as a precautionary measure. An official statement regarding school holidays in Tamil Nadu due to rainfall on November 26, 2025 is awaited.

Heavy rainfall is possible in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while continuous heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Schools in Virudhunagar, Thanjavur, Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur, and Karur will be closed on November 24, 2025, for safety reasons.
