The University Grants Commission (UGC) has raised the fellowship amounts for several fellowship schemes. This decision was ratified during the 572nd meeting of the commission on September 20. As per the UGC, these increased rates will solely apply to current beneficiaries. Interested candidates can check the official notification at ugc.gov.in.
“The University Grants Commission in its 572nd meeting held on September 20, 2023, considered and approved the revised rates of fellowship amount under the UGC fellowship schemes,” reads the official notification.
The Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) monthly stipend has been raised from Rs 31,000 for a duration of two years to Rs 37,000. Similarly, the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) amount has been increased to Rs 42,000 per month, up from the previous rate of Rs 35,000.
