Ujjain Schools Closed News:  Due to the expected huge crowds during the Mahakal sawaris, which will be held every Monday of Shravana, the Ujjain Collector has announced that all schools (both private and government) with classes from nursery to class 12 will remain closed on Mondays until September 2. To make up for this, schools will operate on Sundays.

This decision has been made because many roads will be closed due to the crowds during the Lord Mahakal procession in the month of Sawan. Authorities have instructed all schools to adhere to these orders strictly.

As Shravana is linked with Lord Shiva, Mahakal Nagri Ujjain experiences a significant increase in footfall during this month. Consequently, security has been enhanced not only at the Mahakaleshwar Temple but throughout the entire city.

Strict Action Against Violation

On Saturday, Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh issued a strict warning to shopkeepers and hoteliers, instructing them to refrain from overcharging devotees. He emphasised that those who violate this directive will face severe penalties and strict action from the district administration. Singh also made it clear that no looting should occur in the name of Bhasma Aarti, special darshan, lodging, boarding, or parking arrangements.

SP Pradeep Sharma announced that approximately 2,000 policemen will be assigned to oversee the Sawari arrangements. High-rise buildings along the Sawari routes will be identified and secured to prevent any untoward incidents. Moreover, hotels and lodges are undergoing security checks as part of the overall safety measures. Separate parking areas will be established for vehicles arriving in Ujjain from various roads. The SP also stated that unauthorised panda-pujaris, media personnel, and others will be strictly barred from entering the Mahakaleshwar Temple.

MTMC Administrator Mrinal Meena announced that extensive preparations have been made for this year's Sawaris. Two LED screens will broadcast the Sawari proceedings, and folk artists from across Madhya Pradesh will accompany Baba Mahakal's palanquin during the event. Moreover, 100 CCTV cameras will be installed along the 7-kilometer Sawari route to ensure security and smooth operation.
