UP Schools Closed: In Uttar Pradesh, the school institutions will be closed till July 23, 2025 because of the heavy rush caused by the Kanwar Yatra 2025 whereas in Karnataka and Jharkhand, the school will be closed till July 23, 2025 because of the heavy rainfall forecast. The government is trying to ensure the safety of the students and emphasising on online learning. It is advised to stay updated on travel advisories and administrative orders.

Schools Closed: Kanwar Yatra 2025

The District administrations in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar have made it compulsory for all the institutions and schools to be closed from July 16, 2025 to July 23, 2025 on strict orders. This decision is ensuring the safety of the students due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra 2025 in Uttar Pradesh, aiming to mitigate traffic congestion and address safety concerns.

The annual Kanwar yatra is presently on its peak as there are thousands of pilgrims that have participated in this spiritual yatra, as Shivratri is all set to be held on July 23, 2025 anticipated to draw a large number of devotees.The school closures are mandatory to ensure the safety of public and manage the significant increase in movement of Kanwariyas.

School Closed: Heavy Rainfall

According to an official announcement, that was reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI), government, aided, and private educational institutions including primary and high schools in districts such as Mangaluru, Ullal, Mulki, Bantwal, Belthangady, Sullia, and Moodbidri taluks will remain closed on July 17, 2025 due to rainfall forecast.

The Telangana government has also announced that schools across Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and several surrounding districts will be closed on Monday, July 21, 2025 to celebrate the Bonalu Festival 2025 in the state.

All the schools in Jharkhand’s Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar districts remained closed on July 17, 2025 because of the intense rainfall and a forecast of downpours. Jharkhand is the state that has recorded 71 % surplus rainfall this month.
