UPSC 2023 Toppers Preparation Tips: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2023 on Tuesday, April 16. Aditya Srivastava claimed the top spot in the merit list, followed by Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy securing second and third positions respectively. This year, a total of 1016 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various esteemed services within the Indian government.
The prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) witnessed 180 selections, while the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) have chosen 37 and 200 candidates respectively. Moreover, 613 candidates will be joining the Central Services Group A, with 113 individuals being inducted into Group B Services.
Aditya Srivastava's journey from IIT Kanpur to securing AIR 1 in UPSC 2024 serves as an inspiration for many aspiring civil servants. Aditya Srivastava deliberately chose to pursue a career in the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), driven by his evolving aspirations. In a mock interview shared on YouTube, he provided valuable insights from his journey. During his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he came to the realisation that wealth wasn't his primary motivator.

Reflecting on her path to securing the 7th rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams, Anmol Rathore from Jammu expressed her fervent desire to enact positive change. After topping the Jammu and Kashmir civil services exam previously, Anmol harbored aspirations to crack the UPSC exams.
"Last year I qualified for the J&K Civil Services exam, in which I scored the 1st rank, and side by side I kept preparing for UPSC. This was my third attempt at UPSC. I am very thankful that I qualified for it," Anmol said, as reported by news agency ANI.

Rupal Rana, who achieved rank 26 in the UPSC 2023 exam, emphasised that consistent studying might not always be feasible. On average, she dedicated 8-10 hours per day to her studies, which increased to 13 hours as the exam date drew nearer. Rana also shared that this was her fourth attempt, expressing joy in being able to bring pride to her parents.
"... One cannot study consistently, but on average I studied for 8-10 hours everyday. However, this went up to 13 hours when the exam approached... This was my fourth attempt... I am happy that I could make my parents proud... If one is dedicated enough, one can make it through. Perseverance and consistency are important..." said Rupal Rana to ANI.

Shaurya Arora, who clinched rank 14 in the UPSC 2023 exam, revealed that he graduated from IIT Bombay in 2022 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He disclosed that it was his second attempt, having faced failure to clear the prelims on his initial try. Arora expressed heartfelt gratitude towards his family for their steadfast support throughout his journey and acknowledged the blessings he received from God.
"I graduated from IIT Bombay in 2022 in Mechanical Engineering. This was my second attempt. The first time around I could not clear the prelims... My family have supported me a lot throughout the whole process. I even thank god for his blessings. Hard work, discipline and consistency are the most important...If you have the right guidance and are in touch with the right people, you can qualify for the exam without coaching also," said Shaurya Arora to ANI.

Ananya Reddy from Telangana attained the third rank in the UPSC Civil Services 2023 examination. She disclosed that she dedicated two entire years to UPSC preparation and stressed that it was her initial attempt. Ananya expressed her earnest aspiration to serve the people and underscored the deep-rooted spirit of public service that propelled her forward throughout her journey.
"I had been preparing for UPSC for two full years. This is my first attempt. I feel extremely happy and grateful that I have been able to achieve this rank in my first attempt...I want to do service to the people. That spirit of public service that acted as a source of motivation throughout the journey" Ananya Reddy told ANI.

Ayan Jain, hailing from Bhopal, achieved the 16th rank in the UPSC 2023 exam, attributing his success to the unwavering support of his parents, teachers, and seniors. In an interview with news agency ANI, Jain mentioned that as this was his final attempt, he made a concerted effort to avoid repeating the mistakes of his previous endeavors.
"I analysed the exam, went through previous years' questions, and then strategised my way forward. This was my third attempt so I obviously learnt from the mistakes I made in the first two. My parents, teachers and seniors have played a very important role in the preparation for the exam. I credit my parents, my teachers, and my seniors for this. They have all played a very important role," added Jain.

Nazia Parveen, a student of RCA at Jamia Millia Islamia, secured rank 670 in the UPSC 2023 exam. Stressing the importance of hard work, she emphasised that there are no shortcuts to success and aspirants must be willing to learn from their mistakes. Parveen revealed that despite facing initial setbacks, she persevered and joined RCA at Jamia Millia Islamia after three unsuccessful attempts.
"This was my fourth attempt since I could not qualify the last three attempts. I want to say that there is no substitute for hard work and you should not lose hope. You should learn from your mistakes," she says.
