UPSC ESE Prelims 2026 Timetable: The Union Public Service Commission has released the examination datesheet for the UPSC ESE Prelims 2026 for Stage 1 on their official website. Those candidates who will appear for the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 will be able to check the examination schedule on the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
UPSC ESE Prelims 2026 Timetable: Exam Dates
The examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on February 8, 2026. The UPSC ESE prelims examination will take place in two sessions- first session will take place from 9.30 am to 11.30 am whereas the second session will take place from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Paper I will be held in the first shift and Paper II will be held in the second shift.
The exam will comprise of 500 marks questions out of which 200 including sections from General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and 300 marks for Engineering discipline area.
This recruitment drive is conducted by the UPSC to fill up 474 posts in the organisation. The registration process forUPSC ESE Prelims commenced on September 26 and concluded on October 16, 2025.

UPSC ESE Prelims 2026 Timetable: How to check
To download the exam timetable candidates are advised to follow the mentioned steps below:
Step 1. Students must visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
Step 2. There will be a link for the UPSC ESE Prelims 2026 exam timetable available on the home page.
Step 3. A new PDF file will open on the screen where candidates can check the examination dates.
Step 4. Download the confirmation page and keep a hard copy of the same for further reference.
Candidates must note that there will be a 'Negative Marking' for all the wrong answers that will be marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
