UPSC 2025 Result Mix-up: The UPSC Civil Services results have once again triggered a wave of emotional confusion across Uttar Pradesh. Following the high-profile mix-ups in Bihar and Bulandshahr, a new controversy has emerged in Ghazipur. Priyanka Chaudhary, a GST Inspector and daughter of a hardworking government driver, was widely celebrated for securing the 79th rank. However, official verification has confirmed that the rank belongs to another Priyanka Chaudhary, the wife of an IAS officer currently serving in Himachal Pradesh.

The Emotional Celebration in Ghazipur

In the village of Gaura Khas, the family of Nira Ram, a driver in the tehsil record room, was filled with pride. Nira Ram, who has faced immense personal tragedy, including the loss of his son, emotionally stated he would be proud to drive his daughter's official vehicle. Having studied at BHU and Allahabad University, Priyanka was already a GST Inspector. However, as news spread, it became clear that while her name matched, the selection list did not reflect her roll number.

Who is the Real Rank 79 Holder?

The actual candidate who secured the 79th rank is Priyanka Chaudhary from Himachal Pradesh. Originally from Bikaner, Rajasthan, she is an alumna of IIT Roorkee with a Master’s in Geophysical Technology. This was her fourth attempt at the prestigious exam. Her husband, Mukesh Repswal, is a 2015-batch IAS officer currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chamba. He confirmed to the media that the rank belongs to his wife, who balanced a rigorous study schedule while living with him in Chamba.

Why Do These Name Mismatches Happen?

UPSC results are released as a list of names and roll numbers, and in a country as large as India, identical names are common. Without cross-verifying the roll number on the official admit card, families often jump to conclusions during the high-emotion window of result day. In this instance, the Ghazipur-based Priyanka later clarified to the media that her parents became overly emotional and that she personally had not made a definitive public claim as her own results were still "under process."

How Can Candidates Verify Their Results?

To avoid such public embarrassment, aspirants must use the official UPSC website (upsc.gov.in) and search specifically by their unique seven-digit roll number. A name match is never sufficient for confirmation. The administration in both Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh has now cleared the air, ensuring that credit is given to the rightful achiever while the Ghazipur family deals with the heartbreaking realization of the error.
