Valmiki Jayanti 2025 Holiday: In an official announcement, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Delhi governments have decided to declare Tuesday, October 7, 2025, as a public holiday on the auspicious occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.

According to the Delhi government's decision, all Delhi government offices will remain closed on October 7th to commemorate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Several events will be organized across the capital to mark the occasion, in which Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will also participate.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also confirmed a statewide public holiday. This announcement was made at the request of the Valmiki community and aims to honor the invaluable contributions of Maharishi Valmiki, the author of the epic Ramayana.

As per the state government's directive, all schools, colleges, and government offices will remain closed on this day. The state government is preparing to celebrate the occasion with special pujas, cultural programs, and community events celebrating the saint's legacy.

Maharishi Valmiki's Ideals and Contributions

Maharishi Valmiki is considered the "Adi Kavi" of Indian literature and the author of the Ramayana. He was not only a poet but also a symbol of equality, justice, and humanity in society. According to news agency PTI, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that his life and thoughts still inspire society to move forward on the path of respect and dignity. Tribute meetings and processions will be held to spread this message.

What will Remain Closed?

An official statement stated that all government offices will be closed on Tuesday (October 7th). This will provide employees with a break and the opportunity to participate in the events organised to mark the birth anniversary. Additionally, schools and educational institutions will also be closed, providing students with a break. This decision is not only a symbol of reverence but also a mark of respect for cultural heritage.
