WBCAP UG Merit list 2025: The West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) UG merit list 2025, originally scheduled for release on August 7, has been delayed. Once released on wbcap.in, candidates will be able to log in, check their allotment status, pay the seat acceptance fee, and report to allotted colleges for document verification.

The delay comes in the wake of a Calcutta High Court intervention linked to the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) and JEMAS PG 2024 results. Justice Kausik Chanda has ordered the implementation of a 7% reservation for 66 OBC classes recognised by the West Bengal Backward Classes Department before 2010. The court directed that the process be completed within 15 days, leading to a change in the merit list release timeline.

Next Steps After Seat Allotment

Candidates allotted seats must:

  • Pay the seat acceptance fee online

  • Download the admission slip

  • Report to the allotted college with required documents for verification

These steps must be completed within the deadline mentioned on the portal to confirm admission.

Reason for Delay:

The merit list release has been postponed to synchronise with the revised WBJEE results schedule. The Calcutta HC directive to revise the reservation framework has required the preparation of a fresh merit panel, ensuring compliance with the 7% OBC quota for specified communities.

Impact on Students:

While the delay has extended the waiting period for thousands of students, the move aims to ensure fair representation and compliance with legal mandates. The updated merit list will reflect the revised reservation policy and ensure equitable admissions.
