World University Ranking 2024: The Times Higher Education (THE) announced its World University Rankings 2024 by subject wise today, October 25. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has secured the leading position in India in four key fields including Physical Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, and Life Sciences. Notably, in the field of Physical Sciences, IISc Bengaluru is positioned in the rank 201–250 range.
The global rankings have placed the California Institute of Technology in the top spot, with Harvard University, Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Cambridge following closely as the next leading institutions.
Within the engineering rankings, IISc Bengaluru holds a position in the range of 101-125 but claims the top spot within the Indian region. On a global scale, Harvard University stands at the top of the list, with Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge following closely behind.
In the arts and humanities category, both Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the Delhi University (DU) have secured positions in the 501-600 range. On a global scale, Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Cambridge have claimed the top three positions in this particular list.

In the business and economics category, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has taken the lead in the Indian region, securing a rank in the range of 401-500. Globally, the top three positions are dominated by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and Harvard University.
In the field of clinical and health studies in India, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has emerged as the leading institution, securing a ranking in the 201–250 range. Banaras Hindu University, Panjab University, and Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences have obtained rankings in the 301-400 range.
