The counting of votes in Anantnag-Rajouri, one of the parliamentary constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, began at 8 AM today. This constituency voted on May 25 in the sixth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. Anantnag-Rajouri, reconfigured by the Delimitation Commission in 2022, now includes 18 assembly segments across five districts, excluding Pulwama and parts of Shopian, while incorporating most of the Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Earlier, the polling in the region was scheduled for May 7 in the third phase but the EC postponed it citing adverse weather conditions causing accessibility issues. Key candidates who fought the Anantnag-Rajouri seat include PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference's Mian Altaf, Apni Party's Zafar Iqbal Manhas, and DPAP's Mohammad Saleem Parray.
