Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: The election to the 224-member Legislative Assembly in Karnataka will be held on May 10 while the results for the high-stake polls will be declared on May 13. Of the total 224 seats, a party needs to win at least 113 seats to form a government in Karnataka. In the seat, 36 seats are reserved for scheduled castes and 15 for scheduled tribes. Currently, the BJP has 119 MLAs, while the Congress and the JD(S) have 75 and 28 seats.

Anekal (SC) is a State Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the Bengaluru Urban district and Bengaluru region of Karnataka and is a part of the Bangalore Rural Parliamentary/Lok Sabha constituency.

There are a total of 3,48,106 voters in the constituency that include general voters, NRI voters and service voters. Amongst the general voters 1,84,795 are male, 1,63,228 female and 79 others. 

INC won this seat in the 2013 Karnataka Assembly Elections with a margin of 40,182 votes (21.55%) securing 56.56% of the total votes polled. In 2013 the seat witnessed a voter turnout of 68.89%.

BJP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly Elections with a margin of 9,862 votes (7.08%) registering 44.82% of the votes polled. In the 2018 elections, this seat witnessed a voter turnout of 63.99%. It is an SC category seat.

Anekal Assembly Election 2023:

B Shivanna from INC is the sitting MLA of this seat. The Congress party has this time again fielded B Shivanna as its candidate for this seat.

For the 2023 assembly elections, Hullalli Srinivas is the BJP candidate who will be contesting for the post of MLA from this seat. AAP has given its party ticket to Munesh M to contest from Anekal (SC) Assembly constituency. KP Raju is the Janata Dal (S) candidate for this seat.

In the 2018 assembly elections, B.Shivanna from INC won this seat, he is currently the MLA from the Anekal (SC) constituency. A.Narayanaswamy of BJP was the second runner-up for this seat, and he was behind  B.Shivanna by just around 8000 votes. In 2018, Janata Dal (s) was nowhere in the picture and the third candidate in the race was G. Srinivas from BSP who just managed to get 2,932 votes.
