LS Polls 2024: Pawar Family Bastions Witnesses High-Stakes Battle
The Baramati Lok Sabha seat, which is considered a bastion of Maharashtra's highly influential Pawar family, witnessed a high-stakes electoral battle on Tuesday as voters exercised their franchise to elect their representative from a pool of candidates, including Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule and the Sunetra Pawar, the wife of the veteran leader's rebel nephew Ajit Pawar.
Sharad Pawar has represented Baramati multiple times in the past since his first electoral victory from the seat in 1984. However, with a fight within the Pawar family, this seat has become a symbol of the larger power struggle in Maharashtra between the Maha Vikas Aghadi and the ruling Maha Yuti coalition.
