Lok Sabha Election 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been fielded by the BJP from Varanasi, will file his nomination for re-election from the Lok Sabha seat on May 14, the last date for the filing nomination for the seventh phase of the ongoing parliamentary polls, Jagran.com reported citing sources in the saffron party. The seventh phase of polling for the 2024 Lok Sabha election is set to be held on June 1.
Varanasi LS Polls: PM Modi To Arrive In His Constituency On May 13
According to the report by Jagran.com, PM Modi will arrive in Varanasi on May 13. Following his arrival in the ancient city, PM Modi will hold a roadshow that will reportedly pass though the same areas that the one held by him in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha election did. As per details of the proposed roadshow published by Jagran.com, it will commence with the Prime Minister garlanding the statue of Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya at Varanasi's Lanka intersection.

Similar to PM Modi's 2019 Varanasi roadshow, the one planned for this month will reportedly reach Godaulia via Asi, Bhadaini, Sonarpura, and Madanpura areas. On May 14, before filing his nomination, PM Modi is reportedly planned to pay obeisance at Varanasi's renowned Kashi Vishwanath and Kaal Bhairav temples. PM Modi is seeking a third consecutive term from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.
Varanasi LS Polls 2024: Most Awaited Fray

The upcoming electoral battle in Varanasi is probably the most awaited one amongst all the frays for the ongoing Lok Sabha election. The counting of votes for all the parliamentary seats across the country is scheduled to commence on June 4. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi won the Varanasi seat with 6,74,664 votes cast in his favour. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party candidate Shalini Yadav emerged as the runner-up with 1,95,159 votes.
