New Delhi| Jagran News Desk| The seventh-phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections ended on May 19 and exit the polls were out on the same day which predicted a comfortable victory for the BJP-led NDA. Elections were held on 542 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats and a party/alliance needs 272 seats to form a government.

More than 8,000 candidates were in the fray for 542 seats across the nation. 67.11 per cent of the 90.99 crore electors exercised their franchise in the seven-phase elections.

Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in India in terms of Parliamentary seats (80 seats) and according to the Exit polls, the BJP might win 22-58 seats in UP. The Times Now-VMR had predicted the best scenario for the BJP giving it 58 seats, followed 57 seats by the Republic-Jan Ki Baat, while the ABP News-Nielson has given it 22 seats.

The BJP-led NDA has won 2019 Elections and easily crossed the 300 seat mark. However, in UP, the BJP was not able to repeat its performance of 2014 when it had won 73 out of 80 seats. The big reason for it was the Mahagatbandhan (Grand Alliance) of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samajh Party (BSP). But still, the Grand Alliance was not able to stop the Modi wave.
