Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023: The elections to the 230 Assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh was held on November 17 in a single phase. Balaghat falls under Balaghat district and is a part of the Balaghat Lok Sabha constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Mausam Bisen from the seat while Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Anubha Munjare who is in the fray will look forward to win from the constituency.

The Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections witnessed 77.15 per cent voter turnout in the single phase voting surpassing the 75 per cent recorded in 2018 polls. Balaghat saw an impressive 83.89 per cent polling for the 2023 MP elections.

On the polling day, Madhya Pradesh was marred by sporadic bouts of violence in several districts including Indore, Bhind, Chhatarpur and Morena.

Balaghat elections 2018

Located in Balaghat district, the seat was won by BJP candidate Gaurishanker Chaturbhuj Bisen in 2018 with 73,476 votes defeating SP candidate Anubha Munjare. Bisen had won the 2008 and 2013 elections.

As per the Election Commission of India the counting of votes and declaration of the results for the 2023 Madhya Pradesh polls will be held on December 3.

The tenure of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 6 January 2024.
